Hayes Barton Place Celebrates 100th Household in Newly Opened Luxury Senior Living Community
March 20, 2025A flurry of activity has been taking place at Hayes Barton Place. In the short time since it opened its doors in January, it has just welcome its 100th household. Hayes Barton Place is a luxury senior living community in the Budleigh East neighborhood in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In January, the community welcomed its first 65 residents with two-to-three additional residents every day since then, according to Sam Murray, Executive Director of independent living at the rental Life Plan retirement community that also offers assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing and rehabilitation.
Murray says the community’s goal is to make the move-in process as easy as possible for residents.
“Our staff is here to assist them get settled in and get to know the community,” he says. “We’re helping to reduce any stress that they might have.”
Residents have been eagerly watching construction of the community as it’s progressed over the last several years. Many have already become friends as they have participated in programs and activities with each other while anticipating the community’s opening.
Team members throughout Hayes Barton Place are working hard to let residents know that they are in the perfect place to call home as soon as they walk through the front entrance of the community, which features stately architecture and a green courtyard with a fountain at the center.
Moving Consultant On Board
To ensure that every move-in is going smoothly, Hayes Barton Place contracted with a moving consultant who’s been helping residents connect with anything they might need, from a realtor to sell their previous home to move-in managers and other services.
“They’re helping not only with assisting in the coordination of our move-in calendar, but also a relocation specialist for our future residents to utilize however they see fit, and the service is complimentary for our residents,” Murray says.
The leaders of each department at Hayes Barton Place are also taking time to get to know the residents and answer any questions they may have.
Introduction to Wellness Amenities
The Wellness Director, Shannon Hardy, is “taking the lead on informing residents on various items including information about the state-of-the-art fitness center, the heated saltwater pool, and the types of exercise classes being offered,” Murray says.
Hardy is also doing assessments of the residents’ physical status so they can choose the exercise classes and activities that will best suit them. The information will also serve as a base level for them to see how their strength, balance and other physical abilities improve over time as they access all the services Hayes Barton Place offers.
Dining Program
Similarly, the Culinary Director, Jay Alexander, is helping residents become familiar with the community’s four dining venues.
“He’s guiding residents on everything from information on our four dining venues, how we construct our menu offerings, and the array of technology we utilize to keep residents up-to-date on daily offerings,” says Murray.

With so many new faces, the goal of the team at Hayes Barton Place “is to make sure residents feel supported and that they know where to go to get their questions answered,” he says.
“It’s a team effort to show our residents what each of our departments offer and how to best support their needs at all times,” he adds.
Hayes Barton Places provides a range of independent living residence types including The Flats on Bicton, elegant condominium style homes; The Terraces of HPB, free-standing three-story homes; and Club House Condo Residences with one, two and three-bedroom floor plans.
